So up for breakfast at 7 and it was actually aces lots of fresh pastries and cold meats. They actually kept our bikes in the reception office to keep them safe. Really a cracking hotel.
We however were a bit out if town and needed to go pick up the camino which took a few miles. It was a mixed bag on terrain and we soon found ourselves on the rough stuff but also some hills you just couldn’t cycle up due to the incline and this started something that would happen heaps and that’s pushing the bike up the hill. Hard work in the heat but what wasn’t thought of was this wasn’t something we had practised and with calves on fire we soldiered on. However the second you got that downhill it was glorious.
The hill to the pilgrim Silhouettes was hard work but was soon accomplished going down the other side was the tricky but due to the large loose stones and the first real test of the bikes. They rattled and bounced around and the brakes are a bit spongey but il be honest they were great. If any cracks were going to show it was there and they too a licking and kept kicking.
I’m finding my camino dejavu and I can tell you it’s far easier work on the bike but we are still acclimatising to the heat too. Today was all about seeing how we got on and not pushing it. I learned the hard way from Bering too gutsy too quickly and decided we would do this in a better way.
When on the Tarmac as expected we had a much easier time and took on of the roads to relax a bit more and it was much better than the mixed terrain. So we have decided to try utilise the roads more while we are in our settling phase. So after close to 30 miles decided to call it a day and got booked into a nice family B and B. So far short of giving us his first born they have great and let us out our bikes in the bar area. We has an omelette baguette for lunch and their family were having paella and gave us a plate each.
As we were still catching up on sleep and the camino life today was a snoozy afternoon but now were off for a few cold beers and our menu del dia.
