So here we go again!!!! I have been super late with the blogging stuff so will post a lot to catch you up as less than a week to go.
So the Primitivo – the Original Way!

So it all starts in Oviedo the Camino is around 330ish km (205 miles). As usual I have been looking into guides as usual there is a great pdf on the Camino Forum (https://lizb82657.files.wordpress.com/2018/02/combined-guide-to-the-camino-primitivo-most-recent-1-21-18.pdf) which gives all the Albergue’s. The Stingy Nomad’s Guide (link in pic above) is also excellent and Once again Following the Arrows Guide – https://followingthearrows.com/camino-primitivo/ . I love Kat’s blogs and in previous Camino’s I have proven her stages are a winner. So will be following her stage plan as such but using the other pdf guide to find a beds and food enroute.
Day 1, Oviedo to San Juan de Villapanada, 30.6km, Day 2, San Juan de Villapanada to Bodenaya, 27.7km, Day 3, Bodenaya to Campiello, 28.4km, Day 4, Campiello to Berducedo, 30km, Day 5, Berducedo to Grandas de Salime, 22.8km, Day 6, Grandas de Salime to Fonsagrada, 27km, Day 7, Fonsagrada to Castroverde, 33.7km, Day 8, Castroverde to Lugo, 24.3km, Day 9, Lugo to San Roman da Retorta, 21.6km, Day 10, San Roman da Retorta to Melide, 30km, Day 11, Melide to Salceda, 26.8km, Day 12, Salceda to Santiago de Compostela, 29.8km (Total 332.7km)
So we are aiming to hit it all in 12 days. Which is fairly aggressive but actually pretty chill for me. So I will shoehorn these stages within our overall plans.

We are flying from Manchester to Bilbao and then Santiago Via Madrid back to Manchester. As you can see there is very little wiggle room but more than I usually give myself so we can either take a rest day enroute or at the end. Obviously all best laid plans and all but it’s all subject to change and anything can happen.
So why this time? well no massive statements or intentions other than it’s the last of the major routes I want to tick off, it’s short enough to do within normal holidays and its been 4 years since my last Pilgramage and my expanding midrift could do with a kick into the right direction. As I said before I am being joined by my girlfriend Karen. So I said earlier in the year to her I was getting the itch and was thinking about booking it and she said she wanted to give it a whirl. Am I sure she really knew what she was taking on in the start?, probably not. Is she a natural Pilgrim? Absolutely not, but she is willing to step outside her comfort zone and see what’s it about. Will she hate me by the end of the trip? Possibly, I am a self confessed control freak and I take these things pretty seriously. I really don’t have a reason for it this time other than I want to do it and I imagine much like my first Camino Karen may figure out why she is doing it along the way.
She is also Blogging if you fancy a different perspective on the trip: https://pilgramage.travel.blog
Anyway will do another blog on Preperations and the packing list before I go, then everyday on Camino.
