Day 10 – Molinaseca to Vega de Velcarce

Sorry I’m late today we got chatting. Anyway we got up an hour later than normal and didn’t get on the road until 8.30 after a great breakfast from the nicest guys you will ever meet in the way hostel. Today’s mission is to do a very small 45km for is to be at the foot of our last big mountain tomorrow. We slowly made our way through to Ponferrada and got pretty lost trying to find the way out. You would think they would sign post the shit out of these towns for cyclists but alas we eventually found the camino and continued down that until the road was obvious.

As we were leaving we also saw a police escort for a Specialized Pro road racing team not sure what one that whizzed past and I say the police escort later and managed to get a few snaps. The fact these guys are guarded by police tell you how much they love their cycling.

After a snack we continued on though small villages until we got to what I remember last year as a horrifically boring road to walk a road that winded through mountain valleys with very little cover and this is the road that led us to our overnight spot. Really not a lot of challenge today apart from a few pulls was pretty much just undulating road with some small up and down sections. We still arrived at half 1 and got checked in it’s a very pleasant village but nothing really here to entertain so after a snooze we got chatting to an Australian couple and chatted the evening away and that’s the reason I hadn’t blogged yet, we chatted through dinner too and before we know it it was 11 o clock and bed was calling. Tomorrow’s hill will hopefully go well and we can start our assault on the finish. Sorry today is a little boring but we really didn’t so much.
