Day 4 – Belorado to Burgos

So we kicked off with breakfast at the restaurant where we stayed and headed out all on the n-120 road and about 45k so we knew it would be an easy day to allow us to be in Burgos early to do some sightseeing this was my favourite stop last year so wanted time to relax and rest the legs before the Meseta which is the next leg which is known for desert like conditions but also flat as a pancake.

However although our journey would be a relatively short day we had a mountain to climb and it didn’t take us long to find ourselves at the bottom of it and to be honest although it was hard work we both actually felt very good for it and conquered one of the 4 highest peaks with little trouble and not in the lowest gears. So both pretty dam pleased we headed into Burgos it was a relatively short day we had finished by just after 12 and got checked into our hotel. Quite a classically old building but not actually crap like some hotels are. Bikes taken into a back area and off the street too and after a shower we headed out into town for grub and a wee look at the cathedral, I visited last here year but it’s a cracking feat of man and dad wants to see the architecture and how they built it stuff. Neither if us are interested in any of the religious side of the camino dad’s got his own faith and that’s all good and my views are already well documented. So were really here for a look at the physical aspects and enjoy the scenery, country, each other’s company and food & drink.

Nowt else to really report were all good and for getting to Burgos in 4 days is good going. So I figure were about 500km to go so in 4 days have taken a 200km chunk out of it to Santiago at least.

Pics from the day tho il not be taking anymore from inside the cathedral as I went nuts last year:
