Day 5 Estella to Torres Del Rio

So today we kicked off at around 6 am very shortly into walking did myself and Giovanni made a break for it and split off from the main group who were looking for breakfast which I have already told them in pointless nothing is ever open that early! We walked on and by 6:45 we came to a famous part of the camino! A wine distribution centre for the local wine which has for now many many years given pilgrims free wine and water, so at 6:45 in the morning before breakfast was hitting the wine!

The weather was overcast yet with a cool breeze I thought it felt like a nice day in Scotland so was great weather to be walking in however most other people I could see were putting on the fleeces, I found it very amusing! But we made good time and not bad for my 8 blisters! My feet ached but until the last 5k weren’t bad at all which was a surprise and no new blisters so successful day on that front!

We stopped for a spot of lunch which is normally what is called over here a Bocadillo which is just a big filled baguette! It’s part of the camino diet!

This is where we bumped into the Lituanian girls again Rima and Truchda they were having a Bocadillo and sharing 2 litres of the free wine apparently this is Traditional behaviour! Reina does most of the talking and her english accent is hilarious it’s almost Borak style.

We only stopped for 30 mins and then with our eyes on the prize being now only 10k away. Today’s walking was mainly flat so we made good time and actually really enjoyed today with some hope that my feet are in to recovery!

Lots more pics today hope you enjoy! Let me know if there is anything you want to know more about and I can answer some questions on here too! Today’s walk means that just after 5 days we only have 630 km to go to Santiago so progress is pretty good but we are now being more sensible with our feet very much in recovery!
