Day 1 - Saint Jean Pied de Port - Roncesvalles - 27 km

So we were not allowed out the albergue until 6.20 am. Rafi and I were excited to get rolling. Thankfully the scheduled rain was absent. 

We made good progress but this stage is the hardest for a reason and it was a hard assent into the mountains. The 10 years of youth difference definitely having an effect. The views are still just as breath taking tho. 

But it's definitely a slog, Rafi and I met two American women from Nebraska Danielle and Mary. I spent a good chunk of the day speak to Mary as we walked tho at 6ft she certainly found the downhills way easier. Greatfully after 8 hours I got to Roncesvalles. Have just had tea and I'm sure we will all sleep well tonight.
