Day 6 - Estrella to Los Arcos - 21.6k

So another early start and today is the wine fountain, an infamous part of camino, it's a mixed bag today with a diversion choice too.

Claude a French chap who used to live in the UK and well almost everywhere was my walking pal for the first part of the day. We made good progress on the uphills and made it to the wine fountain. Only to discover a dribble. We still managed a sip each to make it official but later found out the Koreans had filled loads of 2l water bottles. Tho it was 6:40 so vino tinto wasn't exactly the priority.

There is a diversion today to visit a church but the trail is a bit more up and down so we opted for the normal route that should have more stops. Lots of roads and compressed hard gravel trails today. Thankfully my general foot ache hurts more than my blister which seems to be recovering nicely. We walked through the sleepy villages with the majority of shops and bars closed I'm sure they all used to open earlier.

We got to an Albergue that looked closed just as a pilgrim was leaving and Claude being a cheeky chappy talked us into being able to get a coffee and a circular like sugary/syrupy crispy disk. No Idea what they are called was very crumbly but very tasty with a coffee. We chatted and it was a very nice albergue all single beds no bunks, was a beautiful house. La Perla Negra in Azqueta.

We got back on the Camino but got caught up by Richard (English chap) and Georgia (Australian). It's hard to remember who I have mentioned. Richard is an older chap who sold up and generally travels the world. Georgia has been walking all across South France for 30 odd days, some with her mum. Her little brother Louis joined her at St Jean. They have walked the Camino before with their parents and they are quite fast walkers. They are both tall so I'm blaming that. Anyway they are charged ahead. So left me at my normal pace but always good solo walking time for contemplation. It's wild how your mind can wander, even when listening to music if anything more so sometimes lyrics connect or other times certain songs remind you of stuff.

I will admit I had the breakfast of champions today I found a shop albeit very expensive, so decided a bar of 150g Milka white chocolate and Oreo washed down with an aquarius.

The weather was quite mild today so perfect weather for me. I would say it wasn't a good walking day but not a bad one so just glad my blister didn't play up. Finished up by 12 but was a very slowing checking in service. But got the chores done and spent an afternoon chatting with Hannah an women, Who Is a web developer about to start a new job on her return. I know I don't mention everyone everyday but we generally have a solid little Camino family of probably 25 - 30 that intermingle all the time. We see each other all the time and catch up.

I suck at napping so will finish this up and head right to bed. Hopefully Logrono tomorrow (28k). Also met a young Scottish chick who has over packed so my light sleeping bag has a new owner as I have been too warm for it and using my silk liner so 700g removed from my bag instantly and il order another from Ali express on my return.
