We started walking in the dark only to be rewarded by a storm, lightening and rain. This morning we had 12.5k fight before out first potential coffee. The roads and way still very long straight and open and some what boring and mentally draining.
I think we all found this first bit tricky but we soon made it and was rewarded with coffee and breakfast. Thankfully they had toast and jam. Monicque and Cali are both still injured so they headed to Leon on public transport. Thankfully now that bit is out the way we had regular stops and the weather brightened up but certainly a boring day of road walking.
It was certainly a slog but we got the 37km done by 3.30 intime for me to check in. I have another heal blister but was so glad to be done that I largely don't care. Cali threaded it for me and it already does not hurt.
My hotel room is small but lovely and rest will be most welcomed with no alarms. I had a shower and headed out to catch up with my OG peeps who are a day ahead of me and had a drink to celebrate Danielle's first year anniversary of being cancer free. It was nice to catch up with everyone even if only for one day before they get back to it. Plus obviously Mary wanted to get back in the blog.
Then met up with Monique, Luc, Cali and Sean for a drink then tea. Monique picked out a really good restaurant and for a change no pilgrim meal but s full on restaurant experience. The steak I had was sooo good and a few glasses of wine (the name of the wine was too good....look down) but all went down well.
But now it's time to rest, no alarms and stage 2 over. The Maseta is done and two full days of rest.
